I have updated the Screenings page to include the videos and websites that we will discuss on Wednesday. I have divided the videos into several categories, but I think that there are other ways we can categorize them, so think about commonalities and differences when you watch them. I am particularly interested in how these sites and videos speak to their audience(s) — the theatre we have discussed so far assumes a live audience, but the relationship changes when videos are meant to be consumed on the internet in private, or shared through other forms of technology. See you on Wednesday!

We are very lucky to have accomplished actor Wendy Crewson visiting DRAM 205 on Wednesday March 25. Crewson has played a wide range of roles in such films as Away from Her (2006), What Lies Beneath (2000), Better than Chocolate (1999) and The Santa Clause (2004), and has had recurring roles in TV series such as 24, ReGenesis, Street Legal, and Night Heat. Wendy will visit the class on Wednesday, March 25. On the previous Monday (March 23), we will screen Perfect Pie (2002), which stars Crewson, and is based on the stage play of the same name by Judith Thompson. The play is recommended reading for the week, and is available on short term loan (for 3hrs) at Stauffer library.

The class schedule has changed to accommodate this visit – please make sure your calendars are up to date.

Great news! The Border‘s star Graham Abbey is going to visit DRAM 205 on Monday, March 2. We’ll screen some of his work, and then talk to him in person. Graham starred in lead roles at the Stratford Festival for 10 years before leaving to concentrate on other projects. He is also a Queen’s grad.

I have updated the schedule to reflect Graham’s visit. Please note two things in particular: on the week of March 2, there will only be a Monday class, and not a Wednesday class. Also, several topics have shifted weeks in the schedule reshuffle, so make sure to check in before digging into your weekly readings.
